# 40 Instagram Bio Ideas for Lash Techs (and the 4 Lines Every Bio Needs)

**The short answer:** a lash tech's Instagram bio has 150 characters to answer four questions a stranger asks in about three seconds: **what** you do, **where** you are, **why** you (your style or specialty), and **how to book**. Put your service and city in your name field or first line so Instagram search can match you, keep one line for your style, end with a clear booking line pointing to your link, and leave out everything else. Below are the four lines in detail, 40 original bios you can edit, and the mistakes that quietly cost bookings.

## How long can an Instagram bio be?

Your bio can be up to **150 characters**, and spaces, line breaks and emojis count toward that ([Bitly, Instagram character limits](https://bitly.com/blog/instagram-character-limit/)). Your username can be up to 30 characters. Separately, Instagram lets you add **up to five links** to your profile, a feature it rolled out in April 2023 ([TechCrunch](https://techcrunch.com/2023/04/18/instagram-takes-on-linktree-and-others-with-support-for-up-to-5-links-in-bio/)). If you add several, put your booking link first: it's the one most people will see and tap.

150 characters is roughly one tweet's worth. That's why the best lash bios read like a sign on a shop door, not a mission statement.

## Does your Instagram bio help people find you?

Yes, a little, and for lash techs that little matters. Instagram has explained that the text someone types in search is matched against usernames, profile names, bios, captions, hashtags and places. Its advice for businesses: "Make sure your bio includes keywords about who you are and what your profile is about", and if your account is location-specific, "sharing your location in your bio can make it easier for people in your area to find you" ([Instagram, Breaking Down How Instagram Search Works](https://about.instagram.com/blog/announcements/break-down-how-instagram-search-works/)).

So "Lash extensions · Tampa" in your name field or first line does more work than "✨ living my best lash life ✨".

## The 4 lines every lash tech bio needs

1. **What you do, in the words clients search.** "Lash extensions", "lash lift", "volume lashes". Not "lash queen" or "lash boss": few clients search for those.
2. **Where you are.** City, neighborhood, or "Home studio · North Phoenix". If you work from home and don't want your street public, say the area and add "address sent after booking".
3. **Why you.** One line that sets you apart: your style ("wispy, never heavy"), who you serve ("sensitive eyes welcome", "busy moms"), or a promise you can keep ("on time, every time").
4. **How to book.** A short call to action that points at your link: "Book online ⬇️", "Prices + booking ⬇️". If the link leads to a page where clients can see prices and pick a time, say so: "No DMs needed".

Optional extras, only if there's room: your first name (it makes you a person, not a brand), a credential that is true and relevant, or "new clients welcome".

## 40 Instagram bio ideas for lash techs

Each bio below is written with line breaks; a slash (/) marks where a new line starts. The count includes the line breaks, and every one is under 150 characters. Swap in your city and services, and only keep claims that are true for you: don't write "licensed", "insured" or "since 2019" unless you are.

## How do you write a lash bio that's yours, not a template?

The bios above are starting points. To make one sound like you:

- **Read your last ten DMs.** The questions clients ask most ("how long do they last?", "do they hurt?", "do you do bottom lashes?") tell you what to answer in your "why you" line.
- **Borrow your clients' words.** If reviews keep saying "they don't feel heavy", that's your line.
- **Say it out loud.** If it sounds like an ad, cut adjectives until it sounds like you talking to a client.
- **Test it with a stranger.** Show your profile to a friend for three seconds and ask: what does she do, where, and how do I book? If any answer is missing, fix that line first.

Our free [Instagram bio generator](https://us.iw.pe/tools/instagram-bio-generator) writes a few versions from your services, city and style, and counts the characters for you. For why booking only through DMs costs you clients, and what to use instead, see ["DM to book" is costing you clients](https://us.iw.pe/guides/dm-to-book).

## What should you leave out of your bio?

- **Prices.** They change, they eat characters, and a bare number without context ("$150") can put off a client before she sees your work. Put them behind your link.
- **Long policy lines.** "Deposit required. No refunds. No kids." reads as cold. Put policies in a highlight and on your booking page; our [lash cancellation policy guide](https://us.iw.pe/guides/lash-cancellation-policy) shows how to word them.
- **Hashtags.** They crowd the bio and push your booking line down. Instagram's own search advice is to put keywords and hashtags in your captions.
- **"DM to book" as the only option.** It works when you have ten followers. At a few hundred, it means answering the same three questions all day, and clients who'd book at 11 pm leave instead.
- **Five emojis per line.** One or two help scanning. More makes the bio hard to read and harder to search.

## Where should your bio link go?

The link matters more than any line in your bio, because it's the only part that can turn a visit into a booking.

1. **A page with your services, prices and photos**, so clients can decide before they message you.
2. **A clear way to book**: a booking button, or at least a request form, so she can choose a time at midnight without waiting for your reply.
3. **Your location and policies**, in short.

If you use several links, keep the booking link first. A link page with eight buttons ("TikTok", "Shop my faves", "Lash course") makes the client hunt for the one thing she came for.

Not sure whether your current link does the job? The [Instagram website check](https://us.iw.pe/tools/instagram-website-check) looks at your profile link and tells you what a new client sees. And if you don't have a real page yet, read [do you need a website if you have Instagram](https://us.iw.pe/guides/do-i-need-a-website-if-i-have-instagram).

## Quick checklist before you hit save

1. Service and city in the name field or first line.
2. One "why you" line, in plain words.
3. A booking line that points down to the link.
4. Booking link first if you have more than one.
5. Under 150 characters, line breaks included.
6. Nothing in it that isn't true.

When your bio is sorted, the next weak spot is usually the link. [WIPE](https://us.iw.pe/start) turns your Instagram into a booking site with your photos, services and prices, which you can build and preview free before deciding whether to publish it ([what it builds for lash techs](https://us.iw.pe/lash-artists)). It's one option; whatever you use, make sure the first thing a new client sees after your bio is a way to book.

## Frequently asked questions

**What should a lash tech put in her Instagram bio?**
Four things: the service in searchable words (lash extensions, lash lift), your city or area, one line on your style or specialty, and a booking call to action pointing at your link. If there's room, add your first name or a true credential. Leave prices, long policies and hashtags for your link and highlights.

**How many characters is an Instagram bio?**
Up to 150 characters, and spaces, line breaks and emojis all count. Your username can be up to 30 characters. Because space is tight, many lash artists put their main keyword, such as lash extensions plus their city, in the name field and use the bio for style and booking.

**Should I put my prices in my Instagram bio?**
Usually not. Prices change, use up characters, and a number without photos or context can put clients off. Put your price list behind your bio link, on a page where clients can see your work, compare services and book in the same place. Say 'Prices + booking' in the bio instead.

**Should I write 'DM to book' in my bio?**
It's fine when you're starting out, but as you grow it means answering the same questions by hand and losing clients who want to book late at night. A link to a page with prices and a booking button or request form does the same job without you being online.

**Do keywords in my Instagram bio help me get found?**
They can. Instagram says search matches what people type against usernames, profile names, bios, captions and places, and it recommends including keywords and your location in your bio if you're a local business. Use the words clients actually search, like lash extensions and your city.
