No-show and late-cancellation cost calculator

Put in how many appointments you lose and what they're worth. See the cost per year, and what a deposit would have kept.

How it's worked out

Every no-show is a slot you held and couldn't sell. A late cancellation is the same, unless you manage to fill the slot again from a waitlist, so the calculator counts only the share you couldn't refill.

Lost slots a year = (no-shows a month + late cancellations a month × the share you couldn't refill) × 12. The money lost is those slots times your average ticket. A deposit of X percent keeps X percent of each lost ticket, if your policy says it's kept on a no-show or a late cancellation.

What to do with the number

If the yearly number is more than a month's rent, a written policy and a deposit are worth the awkward first conversation. Our lash policy generator writes the policy; put it on your booking page with a checkbox, so every client agrees before she books.

  • A deposit only works if it's taken at booking and the policy is shown before payment.
  • Reminder texts 48 and 24 hours ahead help the clients who simply forgot.
  • A short waitlist of clients who want earlier times turns late cancellations into refilled slots.

Questions

How much deposit should I take for a lash appointment?

Many lash artists take 25 to 50 percent, or a flat amount for full sets and less for fills. Use the calculator to see what each percentage would have kept for you last year.

Does a deposit stop no-shows?

It doesn't stop all of them, but it makes clients more likely to cancel in time, and it pays for part of the slot when they don't.
